I suppose it’s been officially announced, the much talked about “Google Me” will be hitting the cyber-scene this fall. What is Google Me? Well, it’s Google’s Social Network (in a nutshell). Another social crack-addicting network ya say? Well, yep… we’ll see how this goes and if privacy woes will also ensue as they did for Facebook. It appears a layered approach will be implemented to accommodate it’s long menu of current services.
Google CEO, Eric Schmidt noted the following:
“We’re trying to take Google’s core products and add a social component,” Schmidt said. “If you think about it, it’s obvious. With your permission, knowing more about who your friends are, we can provide more tailored recommendations. Search quality can get better.”
It’ll be quite interesting to see what groovy gadget Google’s got up their sleeve. With the mounds of information from it’s many users, I’m hoping custom and tailored social services will be a hit, but who knows! What are your thoughts… what’s this going to look like, flop or win, will it be the next Facebook?
