Enjoy an afternoon stroll downtown Louisville and you just may miss this little treasure, nestled away just steps from Humana and across the street from White Castle’s on 1st Street (120 South 1st Street to be exact). After walking by several times and giving a few short glimpses in this so called “Hillbilly Tea” spot, I decided to get my toes wet and jump inside this rustic establishment.

Immediately, as I walk in I’m greeted by the friendly staff and I feel as if I’ve been transported to another country. Marty Rosen from the Courier Journal said it best as he describes in his review:

“The menu at Hillbilly Tea is a marvel. Imagine, if you will, a village set amid the hills and hollows of Kentucky’s Appalachian region. In that village, imagine there’s a restaurant owned and operated by an outstanding chef who adores local ingredients, is a serious student of old-fashioned country cooking, and whose techniques are finely honed after years of practicing in a demanding cosmopolitan environment.”

I sampled a few of their fresh and made daily tea selections before I landed on their Red Blush herbal tea, on the rocks, of course… it’s 110 degrees outside! It was absolutely refreshing and sweetened just to my liking. Next, I ordered a couple sides to please my half full tummy. The White Bean and Sage Fritters coupled with Field Greens with Smoked Corn Dressing. Upon delivery, the presentation looked amazing and the first bite didn’t disappoint. The fresh flavors of both sides had me craving more. My entire visit cost me just under $8.50 and that included a tea To Go… not bad at all.

This is certainly a place you’ll need to ‘experience’ for yourself… a simple review by an amateur blogger just doesn’t cut it… now what are you waiting for, head on over!

I don’t generally like to rate a restaurant or bar without having been there to taste their rootbeer, but this looks amazing. This is “Burgundy” wine bar/restaurant, Beirut – Lebanon. Look at those lights! Hanging near wooden beams that slice through a wire mesh covering the ceiling, these light objects are made up of conical tubes filling a hypothetical spherical area. Under the lights, a substructure divided into one area for the bar and another for dining.

The lights are meant to recall chandeliers, the cluster of tubes shooting from the center creating the effect of singular light sources being filtered in oh-such a pretty way. In a similar vein, the entryway is lit by a set of black projectors.

It’s interesting to design a bar or restaurant, I’d imagine, since unless you’re working on a kid-centric establishment, you’ve gotta be ever-so-slight with your expression. Food-centric! .PSLAB rocks it.

(AP) Kellogg Co. is voluntarily recalling about 28 million boxes of Apple Jacks, Corn Pops, Froot Loops and Honey Smacks cereals because a “waxy” smell and flavor coming from the package liners could make people sick, the company said Friday.

Kellogg spokeswoman J. Adaire Putnam said about 20 people have complained, including five who reported nausea and vomiting. The company said the potential for serious health problems associated with the cereal is low.

Putnam said the lining of the cereals’ boxes produced the off flavor and odor. Kellogg is trying to identify the substance on the liner that’s causing the problem.

The products were distributed throughout the U.S. and began arriving in stores in late March.

Kellogg’s shares were unchanged in midday trading.

Cutting calories doesn’t have to mean buying prepackaged diet plan food or completely changing the way you cook. With some simple calorie-saving ingredient substitutions, you can trim excess calories and still make your family’s favorite dishes. What can applesauce replace?

• Applesauce: When a baking recipe calls for vegetable oil, use unsweetened applesauce instead. 1/2 cup of vegetable oil = 970 calories; 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce = 53 calories.
• Wild Rice: Introduce your family to wild rice and drop 18 calories per 1-cup (99-gram) serving.
• Egg Whites: You’ll need to use twice as many — two egg whites instead of one whole egg — but you’ll save about 40 calories overall.

60 million Americans suffer from IBS, and conventional medicine doesn’t have a cure. At plain sight it is a standard black mug as they come a dime a dozen and in big white letters it say COLD. Nothing fancy, but once you add the hot beverage of your choice, the mug changes color and is turning white and in big black letters it states: HOT.

As your drink cools down, it slowly reverts back to black, giving you ample warning to not take that last, dreaded cold sip. The color changes due to heat-sensitive pigment.

Wear that cake and eat it too…

Wedding costs can leave a happy couple bankrupt before the bride even sashays down the aisle, but imagine if you could combine two of the priciest wedding day elements into one price.

Lukka Sigurdardottir decided to ditch the overpriced fondant and tulle and created an edible wedding cake dress for the budget-conscious bride that has no desire to dance (or even move, for that matter), but loves yummy checkered cake. A Vera Wang, it’s not, but, it sure looks tasty.
